Hints & Helpful Tips for Advertising Ad Copy
This is a guideline that we have put together for you the advertiser to get the best Out of advertising in the weekly bulletins. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 866-651-2111 and ask for the graphics department and we will be happy to help you.
Logos
Dos
• Logos on business cards, letterhead, etc. are fine as longas they are visibly clean and printed in dark ink on light paper.
Don'ts
• The Quality of faxed or photocopied sheets with logos on them is not acceptable and cannot be used in your ad.
Photos
Dos
• A black and white photo or a color photo with a strong contrast between the subject and the background will work.
• We can scan any photo ranging in size from 1" x 2" to 8" x 10" But keep in mind that the bigger the image the better the quality when printed. It is better to scan a Large image and make it smaller than vice versa, as you lose to much quality in your image.
Don'ts
• We can not accept Preprinted photos, such as those on business cards or brochures. They will not print well.
Artwork
Dos
• All artwork must be printed out on a laser printer of at least 600 dpi and on a high quality laser paper.
Don'ts
• The Quality of artwork printed on a dot matrix or color inkjet printer is not good enough to scan and cannot be used.
• Even though a piece of artwork may have a photo on it, we still need an original photo to scan or a high quality digital photo (See Above under Photos)
E-Mail, Upload Or Files On Disk
Dos
• Your Photos, logos and even ad layout if to large to email can be submitted through our FTP Site (click Upload Files Button on left). If you are making the ad yourself or have an ad agency that does your advertising please call our office at 866-651-2111 to get exact ad measurements.
Sending Ad Copy Via Mail
If you prefer to mail in your ad copy you can get our mailing address from our Contacts Page.
Below is a list of programs and file formats that we can support along with the requirements for each one for printing.
• Adobe Acrobat PDF: Please make sure that there is no security turned on, there is no compression or downsampling on the images & that all fonts are embedded.
• Adobe Illustrator: AI, .EPS or .PDF - Please make sure any text is converted to outlines.
• Microsoft Word / Microsoft Publisher - .DOC or .PUB we will only accept a "text only" ad. Please include any photos or other images you would like in the ad separately in one of the other listed formats or the originals can be scanned.
• Image/Photo: .JPEG, .EPS, .TIFF, .PSD - Files from Various programs - all images and photos should be Black & White (bitmap), grayscale, or CMYK Color at 300dpi resolution. JPEG's should be saved at the highest quality. Ensure that scans are at or larger than final printed size.
• InDesign CS2 - CS5 - Use the "Package" feature under the file menu to ensure that we receive the fonts and images needed to print your ad.
• QuarkXpress 5 - QuarkXpress 8 - Use the Collect for Output feature under the file menu to ensure that you send us the fonts and images needed to print your ad.
